DAY 136 (Saturday 03 December 2011)

Today......all I really did today was go on a bike ride with Charlie and BK as no one else turned up, after last week I shall be surprised if Marion comes with us again, Cath probably didn’t make it because Jim was still up EVEREST as he had just completed the EVEREST MARATHON the day before and isn’t due to get back to camp until Monday.  The route that we did today was to the start of the HATTIBAN walk, which incidentally we will be going to tomorrow to do our little walk to CHAMPA DEVI when Maj Gen Dicky Davis gets here, it’s a sort of welcome walk to NEPAL, even though whilst he is here he will be doing a couple days trek in the West of NEPAL.

After getting back from the bike ride and doing the usual stuff, I actually decided to make a batch of cookies using a recipe from Nigella Lawson, all I am going to say is that I shall most definitely be making these again and will probably have to pass the recipe over to my friend Frankie as she loves baking cookies, trust me Frankie, you will like these.

I decided to hold off on my letter writing to my mum as I knew that I was going out on a little hike tomorrow so I thought I would write to her about that.

DAY 135 (Friday 02 December 2011)

Well nothing exciting happened in work today, but we did get news from the EVEREST RUNNERS, it turned out that Foxy was the first female back in from the race, what’s more is she actually beat the RAO (Kevin) by half an hour, they did the run in just over 6 hours, followed by Steve Roberts at 7 hours 15 mins, then Steve Williams, followed by DCOS then Nicky, so well done to all of them for completing the Marathon.

Other than the EVEREST RUNNERS event this week it has actually been a quiet week in work, however, I am having a bit of a busy weekend, tomorrow is a biking day and Sunday we are doing a walk around Champa Devi, it should take about 3 hours to do, the good thing about the walk on Sunday is that it’s not such an early start as Saturday, so there is a God.

DAY 134 (Thursday 01 December 2011)

DAY 130 (Sunday 27 November 2011)

Bike riding day, 6 of us showed up to do it, me, Charlie, BK, Marion, COS (Lt Col Elton Davis) and KP.  The route was to go towards GODAVRI but when we got there instead of going right at the bottom of the hill we went left, over a little bridge and then the climb began, oh my what a climb.

There was one point of the hill that everyone had to get off to walk, yes even BK had to walk, because the mud was that smooth that you just couldn’t get a good grip from your tyres.

However, the views going up the hill were spectacular, the weather was that clear that you could see part of the mountain range in the distance and it just looked like they were floating.

We were out on the ride for nearly 4½ hours, admittedly that did include a tea stop however, it wasn’t at our usual tea house as it had changed into a shop, so we had to find another tea house, which I think we all needed once we got there.

The one thing about going out on these bike rides that I am enjoying is the fact that I am getting my confidence up when going downhill on the off road tracks, I don’t ride the breaks as often and with that, it’s so much more fun, the adrenaline just pumps through your body.
